| Surface Cleanliness |

  | Surface contamination from salts such as chlorides, sulphates and nitrates have been shown to |

  | lead to blistering of organic coatings,
  particularly in immersion conditions. |

  | It is
not sufficient to measure the cleanliness of the substrate. In a multi-layer
  coating process, |

  | it is necessary
to monitor and record the cleanliness of each layer prior to applying the
  next |

  | coating. When using amine cured epoxy coatings, for example, in
  low ambient temperatures or |

  | in high humidity, a surface oiliness or exudate
may cause inter-coating adhesion failure.   |

  | Elcometer 138 Bresle Kit & Patches |

  | It is
essential that the level of contaminants on a surface is measured prior to
  application to ensure |

  | the quality of the coating and that its optimum lifetime is achieved.
If the coating is applied to a |

  | contaminated
surface, which is not properly prepared, it could fail prematurely resulting
  in costly |

  | re-coating and high maintenance costs. |

  | Each kit is supplied in
a plastic carrying case complete with: |

  | Horiba B-173 Conductivity Meter and Calibration Solutions, 25
