Introduction:
The outstanding
dehumidification performances of the Autodesiccator
models are recommended for more perishable and expensive chemicals that require
constant low humidity. Totally automatic, continual desiccation with silica
beads, and regeneration every twenty minutes, keeps the relative humidity (RH)
level in the Secador 3.0 Desiccator at a constant
level. No longer does one have to tolerate a regeneration lag between cycles
and there is a minimal change when opening the cabinet door. Two fans guarantee
continuous airflow within the cabinet and continuous exhaust of humid air.
The material of construction is DuraStar® plastic,
which has all of the important mechanical and impact properties of
polycarbonate for this application, but has the optical properties of an
acrylic. Note that these cabinets, although they look and are highly robust and
strong, they are not designed to be vacuumcompatible.
Therefore, do not attempt to pull a vacuum on these cabinets (you will ruin the
cabinet) but select one of our vacuum compatible cabinets.

Secador 3.0 Cabinets, Automatic Operation (Electrical
service required)
This is the model that operates silently and automatically, and the decissant never needs replacing since it is constantly
being regenerated by the unique desiccant regeneration module.
Secador 3.0 Cabinets, Manual
Operation (and non-electrical)
These cabinets
have all of the specifications of the automatic models except they do
not have the automatic regeneration of the desiccant feature. From our own
experience using these cabinets in our own laboratory operation, it would seem
that for normal laboratory use, that is, where the door is being rather
regularly opened and closed, the automatic model would be recommended. But if
the cabinets are essentially for the long term storage of either samples, or
components or other items sensitive to moisture, then quite probably the manual
model will be just fine. And you will save some money as well. Of course, if
you are using the cabinets strictly for dust control, and you are going to be
using them as a dust free storage area, the manual version will do just fine as
well.
Like the automatic models, either vertical or horizontal, the manual model also
has three perforated shelves, all movable and removable. Desiccant cartridges
or capsules may be placed on or underneath the shelves. The door is hinged at
the left side and has two latches on the right.
